Company Overview
The Cobell Scholarship Program is administered by Indigenous Education, Inc., a national scholarship provider for American Indian and Alaska Native college students who are high achieving, engaged leaders in their community. Opening its doors in Albuquerque, NM, in February of 2016, the organization awards vocational/trade, undergraduate, graduate and professional level education for degree-seeking students attending non-profit, public and private institutions. visit cobellscholar.org for a full review of the organization.
Company History
The Cobell Scholarship Program is the result of a significant set-aside from the Cobell v. Salazar Settlement with the Federal Government. The settlement funds are invested with the intention to perpetually make available, scholarship dollars for enrolled members of US Federally-recognized tribes. Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
In 6 short years, we have awarded over 4000 Scholars and Fellows with a total of over $32 Million. We offer the only Graduate Summer Fellowship for American Indian Scholars seeking to continue doctoral research in the summer months. We have exclusive set-asides for both Vocational/Trade and Summer attending students. Our Research Department is led by a published and often referenced PhD who is an enrolled citizen of the Choctaw Tribe of Oklahoma. Our CEO has over 25 years of service and scholarship management for American Indian and Alaska Native students. The Director of Outreach is a tribal member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho and is highly regarded among college counselors for professionalism and advice to students. We are located in the bustling Uptown area of Albuquerque, NM which provides easy access to shopping and dining with an enchanting view of the Sandia Mountains. Staff enjoy up to 96 paid sick/pto days beginning the first day of the first full month following the first of employment. The company contributes 2% of staff salary to a Simple IRA, pays 100% of short- and long-term disability, pays 100% of life insurance policy during full-time employment, and pays a significant amount of employee medical, vision and dental premiums. The company regularly updates technology and office environment which includes a fully stocked staff break room. This family-friendly environment limits virtual/remote work but works closely with individual staff to meet the needs of their family obligations.
